We're pleased to offer the following services in our Grand Rapids veterinary clinic:

Appointments

Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. We are open for scheduled appointments from:

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30am - 6pm
• Tuesday, Thursday: 8:30am - 8pm
• Saturday: 8:30am - noon

Surgical procedures and Periodontal Therapies are scheduled Monday through Friday, with check-in typically between 8:30am-8:45am, and dismissals in the afternoon between 3:30pm-6pm. These times may change depending on the procedure.  Please let us know if you have a request for a specific veterinarian.

Emergencies are accepted for our clients of record anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.

Emergency & Urgent Care

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week during office hours who are trained and equipped to handle most urgent care your pet has. Emergencies can be things such a poisoning, hit by car, and collapse. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. We will do the best we can to see you in a timely manner, but also have an obligation to our scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.

Open Hospital

Schmitts Animal Hospital operates an open hospital. This means that our team welcomes owners to be with their animals during most medical procedures, especially examinations, vaccines or simple procedures.  We have a trained veterinary technician staff, and find more complicated procedures best handled by these professionals. Please make our staff aware if you do NOT want to be present when your pet is given injections or has blood drawn.  We will try our best to meet your individual needs.

Payments

Schmitts Animal Hospital accepts payment via cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. So that we can continue to provide you high quality service utilizing the best medical technologies, we request that payment be made at the time services are rendered.

We can provide estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. If you have not received an estimate, you are welcome to request one at any time for your expected charges.
